How HipScaler Works

Back

HipScaler Templating Instructions

  1. Load the required AP pelvic x-ray for preoperative templating.
  2. Use the digital on-screen ruler to measure the maximal diameter of the "HipScaler" disc seen in profile just inferior to the pubic symphysis.
  3. Input the known size of the disc (25mm) and allow computer to scale the image accordingly.
  4. Use Orthoview or other templating software as usual.
  5. If you do not have templating software, acetate templates can also be used with a digital image - simply scale the metal disc to an appropriate magnification eg. if using a 120% template, then scale the disc to 30mm and template as usual.
